Frequently Asked Questions

What is Legion100?

Legion100 is an independently operated communications, operations, and community support platform designed to assist Legion Branches in organizing information, coordinating activities, and maintaining consistent communication with members and the community.

It strengthens existing Branch operations by introducing a structured approach to communication, scheduling, and coordination, while preserving full independence at the Branch level.

As adoption expands, the platform also supports improved alignment and visibility across multiple Branches and Command levels.

What does Legion100 provide?

Legion100 brings together key areas of Branch activity into a single, structured system:

  • communication with members and the community
  • coordination of events and activities
  • integrated scheduling for volunteers, staff, and events
  • automated notifications via email and SMS for reminders, updates, and changes
  • organization of roles and responsibilities
  • centralized access to information and training resources

This reduces reliance on fragmented tools such as personal email accounts, text chains, paper notices, and informal processes. The platform serves as an underlying service layer, enabling the Branch to operate more consistently while reducing administrative effort.

What does the experience look like in practice?

For members, Legion100 provides a clear and reliable way to stay informed, understand upcoming activities, and participate without confusion or missed information.

For volunteers and staff, it provides structure and clarity.

Schedules are visible and organized, with individuals able to:

  • receive invitations or requests for shifts
  • confirm availability
  • receive reminders and updates automatically

Notifications are delivered through email and, where appropriate, SMS, ensuring that important information is received and acted on promptly.

This reduces missed communication, last-minute coordination, and uncertainty around responsibilities.

For Branch leadership, it provides visibility. Communication, participation, and activity are accessible in one place, reducing administrative burden and improving consistency.

At scale, this creates a more connected and informed experience across participating Branches.

How does Legion100 support training, continuity, and governance?

Legion100 includes a structured Community and Training environment designed to support knowledge transfer, role preparation, and operational consistency across Branches.

Within this environment, members, volunteers, and staff can:

  • access role-specific training materials
  • follow self-guided learning paths for volunteer or paid positions
  • view short, focused instructional videos for specific tasks
  • reference standardized processes and expectations

This supports a more consistent understanding of how roles are performed, regardless of location or turnover.

For Branch leadership, this reduces reliance on informal knowledge transfer and helps ensure that responsibilities are clearly understood and repeatable.

At a broader level, it contributes to improved governance by:

  • supporting consistent practices across Branches
  • reducing operational gaps during leadership transitions
  • reinforcing clarity in roles, responsibilities, and expectations

Over time, this creates a more stable and capable operating environment, helping participating Branches maintain continuity while strengthening their ability to serve veterans effectively, consistently, and with purpose.

Does this change how the Branch operates?

No.

The Branch retains full control over its decisions, communication, and activities. Legion100 does not alter governance or authority.

It provides structure and support that allows existing operations to be managed more efficiently and consistently.

Does this create more work for the Branch?

No.

The system is designed to reduce administrative effort by consolidating communication, scheduling, and coordination into a single platform.

Initial onboarding is supported, and over time, the platform replaces multiple disconnected processes with a more efficient workflow.

How does scheduling and notification work?

Legion100 includes an integrated scheduling system that supports events, volunteer coordination, and staff planning.

Participants can be invited to roles or shifts and respond directly, allowing coordinators to manage availability and assignments efficiently.

Automated notifications ensure that:

  • invitations are received
  • confirmations are tracked
  • reminders are delivered
  • changes are communicated clearly

Notifications are delivered through email and, where appropriate, SMS, supporting timely awareness without relying on manual follow-up.

This creates a more reliable and predictable operating environment for both organizers and participants.

How is Legion100 introduced into a Branch?

Legion100 is introduced in a structured and gradual manner.

Existing communication methods can continue during the transition, with the platform assuming a larger role over time as familiarity increases.

Onboarding and training are provided to ensure effective use and a smooth transition.

How is the platform sustained?

Legion100 is sustained through independently managed advertising and business participation.

Participating businesses receive advertising and promotional exposure in exchange for their participation.

No donations are solicited.

No fundraising is conducted on behalf of participating Legion Branches.

No financial contribution is required from Branches, Provincial Commands, or Dominion Command.

Legion100 manages all advertising and business participation activities independently.

Provincial and Dominion Commands are not required to participate in, promote, manage, or oversee any advertising or commercial activities associated with the platform.

Any future collaboration would be optional, separately defined, and subject to the approval of the appropriate Legion authorities.

This approach removes the need for Branch or Command-level fundraising or sponsorship management related to the platform itself.

How does advertising fit into the platform?

Advertising is a structured and separate component of Legion100.

All advertiser relationships, placement, rotation, and renewal processes are managed centrally by the platform to ensure consistency and reliability.

Advertising activity is managed independently by Legion100 and remains separate from Branch, Provincial Command, and Dominion Command operations.

No participation in advertising activities is required from any level of the Legion organization.

Advertising remains clearly distinct from Branch operations and does not imply endorsement by the Branch or the Legion.

Advertising within Legion100 is a commercial advertising relationship between Legion100 and participating businesses.

Businesses receive direct promotional value in exchange for their participation.

Advertising should not be interpreted as a donation, sponsorship, or fundraising activity on behalf of the Legion.

Does this affect fundraising or sponsorships?

No.

Because Legion100 operates through a commercial advertising model rather than donations or sponsorships, existing Branch and Command fundraising efforts remain separate and unaffected.

Branch-led fundraising, sponsorships, and capital initiatives continue unchanged.

Legion100 operates independently of these activities, ensuring that existing and future fundraising efforts remain clear, focused, and unaffected.

This separation allows both Branch and Command priorities to proceed without overlap or conflict.

Is Legion100 owned or operated by the Legion?

No.

Legion100 is independently owned and operated.

It is designed to support participating Legion Branches while remaining separate from Legion governance, fundraising, and operational decision-making.

Participation by a Branch does not transfer ownership or operational responsibility to the Branch, Provincial Command, or Dominion Command.

Why is it called Legion100?

The name Legion100 reflects both the beginning of the Legion’s second century and the vision of helping participating Branches operate at 100% of their potential through stronger communication, operational continuity, and community engagement.

The “100” symbolizes a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and ensuring that knowledge, volunteers, and organizational experience are not lost as leadership changes over time.

While the name acknowledges the Legion’s historic milestone, it is equally intended to represent helping Branches build stronger, more resilient organizations for the future.

Legion100 is independently owned and operated as a branch-support platform that respects existing Legion governance while providing modern communications and operational tools.

How are Provincial and Dominion Commands involved?

Provincial and Dominion Commands are not required to participate in the operation, administration, funding, advertising, or management of Legion100.

Command may choose to remain informed regarding platform adoption and usage within their respective jurisdictions.

Legion100 is designed to operate independently while respecting existing Legion governance structures and reporting relationships.

This approach allows Command to maintain visibility without assuming responsibility for day-to-day platform operations.

Does this affect Command-level fundraising or initiatives?

No.

Legion100 operates independently of all Branch and Command fundraising activities.

Existing Command and Branch-level initiatives, including sponsorships, campaigns, and programs, continue unchanged and are not affected by the platform.

This ensures that all fundraising efforts remain clearly defined and free from overlap or confusion.

Does Command need to participate in any funding or commercial activity?

No.

Legion100 does not require any financial or commercial participation from Provincial or Dominion Command.

The platform is independently sustained and managed, allowing Command to remain fully separate from any funding or advertising activity.

Does this provide value at the Command level?

Yes.

As adoption grows, Legion100 supports improved visibility into engagement and activity across participating Branches.

This may include:

  • communication reach and effectiveness
  • event participation trends
  • volunteer involvement
  • general activity patterns

This level of insight may provide a more consistent view of engagement and activity across participating Branches.

All information is aggregated and does not affect the Branch control of data.

Can Command become more involved in the future?

Any future relationship between Legion100 and Provincial or Dominion Command would be developed separately, clearly defined, and subject to mutual agreement.

Legion100 does not depend on Command participation in order to operate successfully.

Who controls the system?

The Branch maintains full control over its participation.

  • The Branch controls its data
  • The Branch controls its communications
  • The Branch determines how the platform is used locally

Legion100 provides the structure and operational support that enables these activities but does not make decisions on behalf of the Branch.

How is data handled?

All data remains under the control of the Branch.

Data is stored securely within Canada, and personal information is not sold or used for targeted advertising.

Communications are based on user-selected preferences, supporting a relevant and respectful experience.

Is it difficult to use?

No.

The platform is designed to be simple and accessible.

Members receive clear communication and event information, while volunteers and leadership operate within structured, easy-to-understand workflows.

The objective is to reduce complexity, not introduce it.

What happens if the system is unavailable?

Legion100 is designed for reliability, but temporary interruptions may occur.

Standard communication methods remain available alongside the platform, ensuring that Branch operations are not dependent on a single system.

What happens if a Branch chooses to stop using it?

A Branch may discontinue use at any time.

There are no long-term obligations or financial penalties, and data export is supported where possible.

This ensures flexibility while maintaining continuity during active use.

Can this support multiple Branches?

Yes.

Legion100 was designed as a multi-branch platform. Each Branch operates independently within its own environment, while benefiting from a consistent structure across the system.

This supports scalable adoption and a more unified operational approach across the Legion.

Does this provide insight beyond the Branch level?

As adoption grows, Legion100 enables structured, aggregated insight across participating Branches.

This may include trends in:

  • communication reach and engagement
  • event participation
  • volunteer involvement
  • overall member activity

This level of visibility supports improved planning and decision-making at both Branch and Command levels, while maintaining Branch-level data control.

How is the Legion’s reputation protected?

Legion100 is structured to ensure clear separation between Branch communications and external elements such as advertising.

All external content is managed independently by Legion100 and presented in a manner that does not imply endorsement by individual Legion Branches.

This preserves clarity and helps protect the reputation of both participating Branches and the Legion as a whole.

Legion100 may identify itself as an independent platform supporting Legion Branches; however, participation does not imply endorsement of advertisers, products, services, organizations, or commercial activities by participating Legion Branches, Provincial Commands, Dominion Command, or other Legion entities.

Does this expand into other services or activities?

No.

Legion100 remains a defined operational platform focused on communication, coordination, and organization.

It is not intended to expand into unrelated activities, ensuring clarity of purpose.

What is the long-term role of Legion100?

Legion100 provides a stable operational foundation for Branches.

Over time, it supports improved consistency, stronger coordination, and better-informed decision-making across the organization, while maintaining the independence and structure that defines the Legion.

As participation grows, the platform also supports the development of shared knowledge and training standards, contributing to stronger governance and continuity across the Legion.

How should this be explained to members?

“It’s a system that helps us stay organized, communicate more clearly, and make it easier for members to stay informed and involved.”

Legion100 is available to participating Branches as an independent communications, operations, and community platform designed to support local success.
